The welding rod itself, i.e. the filler material inside, does not mind being stored in damp conditions on rotten
cellar shelves, in damp double garages or in the far corner of the workbench. But the
coating does: depending on the humidity of the environment, it attracts water more or less quickly and
does not readily give it back.

A simple oven, ideally electric, can help in this case. Spread the electrodes out on a
grid or tray and bake at 250 – 350 \u00b0C for three hours or longer. This process also drives stubborn moisture out of the rods and renews the welding experience.

Instructions for regeneration (“re-dry”) can often be found on the package of the electrodes themselves. However, the recipe described above always works. Then leave to cool and serve with a dollop of cream. Bon app\u00e9tit!
